COOK TIME: 18 minutes
PREP TIME: 20 minutes
SERVINGS: 12
INGREDIENTS
1 pound refrigerated pizza dough
½ cup pizza sauce
1 cup, shredded low-moisture part-skim mozzarella cheese
½ cup sliced pepperoni
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
Unroll the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle approximately 12x8 inches.
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border around the edges.
Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
Arrange the pepperoni slices evenly across the top of the cheese.
Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.
Using a sharp knife, cut the log into 12 even slices.
Place the slices cut side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
Brush the tops lightly with olive oil. Sprinkle evenly with Italian seasoning and grated Parmesan cheese.
Bake for 16–18 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the internal temperature of the pinwheels reaches at least 165°F (74°C) for food safety.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Storing Leftovers:
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (177°C) for 8–10 minutes or until heated through to 165°F (74°C).
Ingredient Substitutions:
Pizza dough: Substitute with crescent roll dough or puff pastry for a flakier texture.
Pepperoni: Use cooked and crumbled Italian sausage or omit for a vegetarian version.
Mozzarella cheese: Any shredded cheese blend for pizza can be used.
